This is my home router. I saved a backup of it and exported the configuration to my PC.
I am trying to help someone else migrate from an old Mikrotik router to a new one moving the configuration, so before I do anything, I wanted to practice some things with my own.
I wanted to reset the router to the state where there is no default configuration or DHCP enabled on it. I know the configuration can be deleted in winbox the first time you connect to a new router but I thought it was possible to do it using the physical reset button.
Long story short, I did hold the reset button way too long until the second LED light turned off... according to the manual it reads:
"Press the Reset button and power on your device (wait until the USR led is blinking then stable "On", and when the USR led is "Off" - release the Reset button) - the device is booting in bootp mode to reinstall RouterOS using Netinstall over the network using Ether1."
At this point, no matter if i connect to port 1 or 2, winbox is not able to see the router anymore. I tried resetting it again releasing the reset button when the led starts flashing, but it does not revert it to the state with the default config with ip 192.168.88.1.
So the question is, do I really have to do the Netinstall procedure meaning the kind of reset I did already completely wiped the OS from the router or is there any way ro make it reset back with the default configuration?
