Hi,
I’m upgrading from a hap ac-lite to an hap ac2 to take advantage of the dual radios. my old method of using as a travel router would be to use wlan1 in station mode to connect to upstream provider, and create a virtual interface, wlan3, in ap-bridge mode that would present my local SSID for devices. this works well, but does require getting the wlan1 connection is place before the wlan3 interface will activate.
For the new ac2 device, I though, why not make the wlan1 interface ap-bridge and then create a virtual interface that woud be in station mode? Problem is that if I specify an SSID in wlan3 (virtaul), I don’t get a connection. However, if I leave the SSID blank, a random network is chosen. So a couple questions:
- Is leaving the physical interface in ap bridge mode and the virtual as station even possible?
- If so, is there a way to filter or select only a single SSID and then use the security profile define for authentication?
the old way still works, but requires some additional steps to get all the interfaces playing nicely in demo or workshop settings. I’d prefer a config where all consistent wireless configs are in place, and only deal with ether1, wlan1 or wlan2 for upstream configuration.
Thanks!!!
