Dear MikroTik Family,
I am limited in my ability to tweak router settings, but how, friends, do I improve the range of my MikroTik hAP ac3 Router’s 5Ghz transmission?
It seems to get weaker with age…
Is this bottom-shelf AI?
Any hints on improving the range on our MikroTik hAP ac3 Router’s 5Ghz transmission are welcomed and appreciated.
Paul
No need to start a poll, I removed it.
Basic stuff to check:
- Why only focus on 5Ghz ? Main target is to have connection, whatever way, I would think ?
- How’s 2GHz ?
- what frequency does your device use in 5Ghz range ? Don’t use auto.
- what frequencies are being used around you ? Try to select a channel which is NOT used by anyone else or (if not possible) the least used by others.
- what obstacles are between your device’s antennas and the client devices ? e.g. Concrete reinforced with steel is worse then wood to have wifi pass through (up to the point it may be zero).
- 2Ghz goes a lot better through obstacles then 5GHz so it may (depending on positioning) be normal what you experience.
- what version of ROS is running on that device ? AC3 is capable of using wave2 drivers. Makes a HUGE difference if you’re not yet using it.
If all that is not clear enough yet, it might help to show us your config (minus serial, passwds, …).
