Hap ac3 Wi-Fi performance

Hello,
I will post here because it has been a long time since I used routeros wireless features (around 6.13 or similar8, so I might be missing something basic…

Starting point

  • isp cattv modem - hex s - plume access point (managed by the isp)
  • brand new hap ac3 connected to the modem (to replace hex and ap

What I did

  • update everything to 7.2.1
  • export config fro hex s
  • resettled the hap with no config
  • manually copy and paste the config to the hap
  • added the Wi-Fi config to the hap

Issues
“ on hex s I get 320/10 mobs with Speedtest on iPad

  • on hap I get 222/6 mbps on the same iPad

Config

/interface wireless security-profiles
set [ find default=yes ] supplicant-identity=MikroTik
add authentication-types=wpa2-psk mode=dynamic-keys name=casa supplicant-identity=MikroTik

/interface wireless
set [ find default-name=wlan1 ] band=2ghz-g/n country=japan disabled=no distance=indoors mode=ap-bridge security-profile=casa
ssid=casa wps-mode=disabled
set [ find default-name=wlan2 ] band=5ghz-a/n/ac channel-width=20/40mhz-XX country=japan disabled=no distance=indoors mode=
ap-bridge security-profile=casa ssid=casa

Both devices have the same firewall rules (basically allow lan traffic, block everything else), a whopping 6 filters and 1 nat.

Is there something I am missing ?

Thanks

Giuliano

Is there something I am missing ?

  • local test (not involving internet speed variations)
  • smart frequency setting. “auto” is unpredictable in channel and performance
  • what is settings of ISP modem wifi. (channel, 40 MHz, 80 MHz ?)
  • “wifiwave2” drivers in hAP ac3

Thanks for the suggestions!
I switched to Wi-Fi wave 2 + fixed frequency and I get 310/10 mbps on 5ghz
2.4ghz is a total mess in the building, so probably there is no optimal settings (the max i have got was 90/7)

Thanks again !

THat is some slow…

OP gave 40MHz channel bandwidth as config. Dual stream …would be (MCS09) 400Mbps-40MHz/2S/SGI interface rate , and data is 310Mbps. Looks good to me.
90 Mbps on 2.4GHz crowded area, is probably on (MCS07) 144Mbps-20MHz/2S/SGI interface rate at best.

UP slow? Down slow? It is the ISP provided speed in what I understand from the hEX S.
