hAP as local WAP dedicated VPN link

Hello,

I’ve programmed a hEX (RB750) before to be the in between a remote clients wired PC and the remote clients personal router; programmed to connect automatically to the corporate VPN.

I have another remote client who has a wireless desktop PC. (Physical issues prohibit a wired connection to the personal home router) I can not get a VPN client to work on the machine, I’m fairly certain it isn’t their personal Cisco wireless router that is bottleneck - as I can talk them through programming their iPhone VPN and turning off cellular data and the connection works.

I’m thinking about a work around. Send them an hAP (RB962), using the wireless connection to get to their Cisco wireless router for internet and the wired ethernet for a 2nd connection to their PC. Programming the hAP with the VPN access to the corporate VPN using the wireless as WAN. Then adding a persistent route on their Windows 10 desktop so it knows to find the corporate VPN network via the wired connection to the hAP. Would also give me the option to have them add the hAP as a DMZ on their Cisco if needed.

Anyone done something like this before? Any issues I should be aware of? Can the wireless be the WAN connection on the hAP?

Thanks!
