Will hAP ac be updated to ax at some point or is the case too small? We have situations where need drop in replacement. First we use RB951G, then we use hAP ac, but now we want to use hAP ax, identical footprint chassis.

There is ax lite, ax2, ax3.
All different packages.
When I say hAP ac I am referring to RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT
How you know for sure they won’t update hAP ac to hAP ax?
There is already hAP ax2 and ax3.
There is almost zero added value for another model with same capabilities but other package, it just adds costs.
What you’re loosing now is USB (ax3 has it but package is TOTALLY different) and SFP port.
So maybe, with time, something might come. But I am not so sure or it would already have been done.
If MikroTik had wished to reproduce the hAP ac form factor as an AX device, why would they not already have done so rather than investing in design of the hAP ax2? Have you considered there may have been heat issues in such an attempt (look at the ax2)?
Maybe that form factor can or will be reiterated as an AX in the future. Waiting would not be my preferred strategy.
If the size is important for you then there’s hAP AX2. hAP AC’s main feature was 3-chain WiFi for both 2.4 and 5GHz, it was the case at times when Macbook Pros could really use it, but they also went back to 2-chain and now AX gives you the extra speed.
If the “white block form” is important to you then IIRC hAP AC2 could be screwed into old white boxes, AX2 is similar, but don’t know the details.
There is hAP ac³ and hAP ac² in addition to the hAP ac, so saying that there is already an hAP ax² and hAP ax³ so why do you need hAP ax is sort of a strange argument IMO
We really like the white box of RB951G / hAP ac. hopefully I can wait it out and Mikrotik will eventually sell off all of their hAP ac stock and update it
Maybe they are just sitting on lots of hAP ac units they need to get rid of first.
Same like saying you’d like the new engine and interior, but keep the 2001. design of a car.
