hAP ax2 no WiFi client mode. removed?

Hi there,
Just bought these new devices to replace older ones and I am scratching my head all morning.
Where are all the Wireless modes on this model ? It makes no sense
QuickSet has only Home AP Dual, where as all the older models have all the modes like CPE, Bridge etc.

I am trying to set them up as Wifi clients but this option is no longer available on this box.
Tried 7.8 with no luck.

Any ideas how to achieve ?

When I click scan to find other networks it lists the SSIDS.
When I try to connect it fails with Could not perform Action - not running (6)

It seems that a large chuck of WIFI specs have been removed on the AX series which is really sad.
Does anyone know anything about this?

It’s a known limitation of the wifiwave2 driver.

Are you sure wifiwave2 package is present on that device?

Wireless radio on hAP ax2 is only supported by wifiwave2. So if OP sees any of wireless-related options this means wifiwave2 driver is installed.

Yes, it’s known that wifiwave2 for now only supports 2 modes: AP and station. Some of those QuickSet profiles should still be possible. But it is possible that QuickSet simply lags behind with regard to wifiwave2 options (and QuickSet is not the only one that experiences minor problems with wifiwave2).

This really sucks, station on wifiwave2 doesn’t work either, selecting a SSID from scan results in a generic winbox error.
Is there a way to get rid of wifiwave2 and go back to wireless package?

I cant believe a brand new Mikrotik latest model cant do basic wireless features anymore…

Is it always going to be a limitation? Do we know if this is going to be supported in the future?
Or are there any workarounds?

No, ax line of devices only supports wifiwave2 drivers as @mkx stated already.

I’m sure given time those features will come back in.
At least I hope they do …

Well, wifiwave2 driver is a moving target right now and MT’s tradition is that those moving targets are really only supported via CLI. So inability to make things work in station mode via winbox could be due to incompatibilities between newest ROS and winbox. You might want to try to configure this part using CLI.
