since I can not post under beta subject (and while I’ve reverted back to 7.13.1…), I will allow myself to post my question here.
So I did upgrade to 7.14b6 on following devices: hap ac3 (works well), hap ax3 (seems to work well) and another hap ax3 (which is a subject of this discussion).
So after upgrade all seemed well, but I’ve noticed that 2.4GHz network is missing.
I tried multiple settings of this interface, including setting it down to 802.11g, reducing channel, changing country, making tx power lower/higher - no effect.
it does see only one wifi network (which comes from different device), while it should see many of them (since its 2.4…), additionally - frequency usage shows 100% on all channels.
Does it mean 2.4 module is now broken on this device?
I’m technically unable to make netinstall since I dont have any Windows machine with LAN port (unless there is an option to do it via WiFi connected AP), so maybe there is a hint what I could do more, apart of downgrade to 7.13 which did not made any effect?
Were you able to get to the bottom of this? I have a new hAP ax^2 (no USB) fresh out of the box and there’s no 2.4GHz AP visible. I’ve fiddled with all the things you mention, and upgraded to 7.16. Nothing seems to make a difference.
Seems like a pretty fundamental issue a lot of people are having?
Good to know thank you. I’ve experienced the issue since birth, and after a firmware update, and a configuration reset. Maybe something pretty ingrained.
Encouraging! So you had the issue on 7.15.3, found it works after reverting to 7.14.3, and also after an upgrade to 7.17.beta2? Meanwhile I have the issue on 7.16.
Not too excited about running a beta on my main router, but excited about a possible solution. Will give it a go tomorrow.
Done. No dice I’m afraid, whether fresh out of the box or after basic country/ssid config. Haven’t noticed any difference. Same result as the upgrade to 7.16. I tried “reset configuration to default”. I didn’t dare try “reset, no default”.
could be an issue with config.
I don’t know if there’s anything left for me to configure!
I recommend having look into this file:
Oh great! Alas, nothing there I haven’t already tried. This is not a matter of performance - the 2.4GHz is dead as a door nail!
Something interesting I just noticed: even running a “Scan” with wifi2 (the 2.4GHz interface) returns nothing, even though I just turned on a 2.4GHz AP nearby. Further, if I run Freq. Usage, it also appears to be flatlined! See below, taken while I have a device connected to the 3rd party 2.4GHz AP.
Any way to check for signs of life with this radio?
OMG. I’ve spent a week on this. Rebooting, reseting, upgrading, configuring every last inch of the configuration. Chains and channels and masters and slaves and countries and bands. Trying everything I can find in every corner of the Internet. I now have routers and cables strewn from one end of my lab to the other taking readings and advertising networks. The 2.4GHz has been stubbornly dead dead dead. Not just transmitting (eg. scans from external devices show nothing from the hAP) but receiving as well (eg. running a scan/sniff from Webfig shows nothing). Yet no errors appear and all the config seems to take effect in the GUI.
In great desperation, I just tried an ol’ trick from the bottom of the toolbox. I pulled the power plug out. When I plugged it back in, everything was working fine.
That, plus the hundred weird software quirks I ran into along the way don’t fill me with a lot of confidence. But I’m ecstatic to be up and running again! Hope that super smart trick helps others too.
I had the same problem of 2.4GHz of my hAP ax3 in v7.18.1 . I downloaded to v7.15.3 and the result of 2.4GHz was the same. Then I checked the forum and found to change the security of 2.4GHz from WPA2 PSK and WPA3 PSK to WPA2 PSK only, the 2.4GHz worked properly. I changed it back to WPA2 PSK and WPA3 PSK and it worked again!!!
I had upgraded it to v7.18.1, then it found both 2.4GHz and 5GHz worked again.
