I have similar problem, When I do not chose country the radio power is at maximum I have best wifi 6 performace but the WIFI 5,4Ghz channel is too high and my TV Samsung 3 years old do not connect to this channel. When I chose my country the channel is lower and my TV can connec to 5,4Ghz
Thank you for the detailed explanation! I remembered now that the Pixel 4a was purchased in the US, so it should not be limited to Israeli frequencies, and still it could not discover the router when it chose the 5500 channel.
If in one physical region, you fill in another region, there might be problems with client devices that did set the correct or even yet another region, as only the common frequencies are usable.
With the region info as it is seen in MT, an Israeli client (set to region Israel) device will not detect wifi on 5500MHz+ channels.
(My DJI drone uses it’s GPS info to set the correct region. )
The LG G4 I mentiobed in post #15 above got info about rough location from mobile network (MCC says it all).
So it doesn’t really matter where devicecwas purchased (unless it’s crippled to country speciffics), if it’s truly “world” device it’ll adjust to country regulations according to location information (and there are various location information sources).
SIM operator doesn’t necessarily give current location (think roaming). So it’s actually MCC of currenly used network (can even be the “emergency calls only” half-registered network, phone will be able to read MCC anyway).
