I had to restart a hAP ax3 after removing it from an office to configure it in another location. I followed the usual procedures that I’ve done with other MikroTik models. Apparently, the hAP ax3 reset, but it didn’t return to factory settings; instead, it caused a loop, probably in the interfaces, causing them to keep disconnecting. It seems that its default startup script might have caused some unknown issue.
I’ve tried resetting it several times, and the interfaces keep looping.
I connected via Winbox, and it opens normally, but after about 10 seconds, I get disconnected and then reconnected. Winbox enters the wizard window and asks to change the password. Occasionally, it also shows the default script.
I quickly tried configuring using the wizard, but it doesn’t save; it disconnects me and reconnects again.
In short, I can’t use the hAP ax3 for anything now.
News: I tried resetting another identical device, and the same problem occurred. Now, I have no access to webfig, ssh, and I’m facing disconnections via Winbox, whether connecting through IP or MAC Address.
Netinstall doesn’t work either.
Now I have two bricks. In some online searches, I found other people with the same problem for this model, but I didn't find any solutions for it. I suspect it might be a bug in the script it runs internally to reset to factory settings.
i had simillar issues i did this and it worked was a muck around for a few minutes bit i had to do it couple times
Mikrotik Factory Reset Guide
Disconnect the power cord from the unit.
Hold the reset button and do not release.
Plug the power cord in and wait until the ACT light starts flashing.
Now release the button to clear configuration.
Wait for a few minutes for the router to clear and restore the factory settings.
I am having similar issues. It will reset / reboot into CAPS mode, but when I try to do a reset into basic factory config mode using the button on the back, the WiFi never comes on, and it does not appear in WinBox. The power off, reset button hold until flashing light, wait for 20 minutes, did not work. Twice.
Hello everyone
I’m fighting with a similar problem as mentioned above. hAP ax3 connected by cabe to my Linux Mint Laptop. If i try to connect to the IP (192.168.88.1) the browser responde a failed connection. On the other Hand, there is no problem, using the Internet for example writhing this post.
Could anyone explane, what i’m doing wrong?
Probably nothing really “wrong”, it is entirely possible that you have in your config a firewall rule or something else preventing you from connecting.
Make sure that you are trying to connect with the cable in ether 2-5 (NOT ether1).
Then your next step is to try using Winbox.
The good ol’ version 3.x ran only on Windows (or in Linux via Wine), but the new one v 4.x should run just fine in Linux: https://mikrotik.com/download
Winbox allows (normally) to access both via IP and MAC, so it is worth a try.
If something (firewall or winbox settings) is blocking the connection the next attempt is to try resetting the machine or netinstall it, but first try with Winbox.
