Suspect the page isn’t finished yet - no block diagram for example.
hAPbe3 is still not available from the manufacturer with first production batch expected late April 2026
Still an interesting and exciting development. First Wi-Fi 7 device? Fingers crossed over Wi-Fi performance and stability…
I hope a version with a 10g uplink port will be released. And maybe 3 chains instead of 2…
For a home router???
I am pretty sure Mikrotik develops devices that sell on a large scale. Producing devices with 10g and wifi7 triband and quad chain, dedicated 6ghz for backhaul, 4gb ram and 10gb flash with 8 2.5g ports, SFP+ and this all hardware accelerated, 2 nvme slots with 5 USB3 for 800€ will be the wet dream of any home lab enthusiast. But sales number? 10 per month?
Ah, true. I’m using my ax3 just as AP+switch, not as a router. And my upstream switch is 10g, my router 10g too, and my isp give me 8gb/sec…
And in my setup, 10g uplink is easier to manage than 2.5.
So I get that it’s a niche case, but with wifi7 and multiple eth ports, you can hit the 2.5gb limit more frequently than before.
Still no 160 MHz channel width on 5 GHz?
Its there..
Why ether1 is connected to CPU directly? It was way better to was connected to switch like other ports.
That QCA8386 switch chip only supports 4 * 2.5GBaseT ports. It's not possible to put 5 ports on it. Also, the combine throughput of those 4 ports when switching cannot exceed 5Gbps.
The published numbers from MikroTik also show this 5Gbps limit (under "Bridging").
Also, it’s designed as a home router, so I assume ethernet #1 will be firewalled and therefore have to go through the CPU?
Wasn’t there when I posted… just the product images. The page is obviously still a work in progress.
Do we know how the matter / thread interfaces will be managed from winbox?
Thread is exposed to Container, and there is a special built-in app, where you can either have a plain OTBR container, or a full stack Home Assistant with Thread and Matter built in. So not via Winbox, only via /App menu
hAPbe website should be taken with a grain of salt, there are some mistakes and not all info is there, sorry about that, it was rushed.
I’ve never used containers on RouterOS - is there any training material on their use?
Caught between suggesting it’s taken offline/hidden until ready and enjoying the speculation ![]()
