I have a RouterBOARD 941-2nD hAP Lite with RouterOS 6.40.4 and firmware 3.4.1. This is a 10/100M switch/router.
Of the four ports (ether1, ether2,3,4), the ether1 port1 will only link at 10M/Half to an assortment of other devices (all 10/100/1000M capable). Those same devices, plugged into the hAP Lite upper three ports (2,3,4), link at 100M/Full. All device are set for autonegotiation.
In addition, a protocol analyzer shows that the hAP Lite ether1 port is only advertising 10M/Half for purposes of link autonegotiation. This is despite the fact that the GUI Interface[Ethernet] setting for ether1 is set for Auto Negotiation Advertise 10-100-1000M Full and Half (note: 1000M isn’t valid for this device); if I set it to 100M (Full or Half) only it won’t link up at all.
If I change those Advertise settings on ether2,3,4 ports2-4, the link changes to 10M or 100M, Full or Half, showing that the “concept” works. But it does nothing on ether1 (port1) which remains stuck at 10M/Half (or no-link if set to 100M/F-H).
In addition, the LINK LED on ether1 port1 remains on even when there’s no cable connected to that port (if the port is enabled; disable the port and the LED turns off). If I plug a cable into that port the LED will remain on, but it may (activity) blink some if there’s a device on the other end that has linked up at 10M. So even with no cable-connected device the port is acting like its linked to “something” (internal bridge, etc.).
Cables are fine (tried with multiple cables, all Cat5e or Cat6s). And those same cables show 1000M (or at least 100M) between any other combos than the hAP Lite port1.
How do I get the ether1 port1 to behave normally = Link (LED) at 10/100M Full or Half?
Here’s the status of Port1 (ether1) with no cable or device connected to that port. The LINK LED on the RJ45 is on.
Why 10M only (since the GUI shows Autoneg 10/100/1000 Full & Half; 1000M not valid for this device)? And what it is linked to–there’s no external device/cable connected to the port.
With AutoNeg (10/100M Full & Half) enabled, the Internet/WAN port won’t Link at anything other than 10M, which is too slow.
And with AutoNeg turned off and set to 100M, it won’t Link at all.
I still wonder what the port Link LED, on even when no cable or device is connected, is indicating.
I’d recommend you use Netinstall to do a complete clear of the unit before such drastic action. https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall
You can also setup the router with port 2 as the WAN port leaving port 1 unused.
No go. The hAP Lite never appears in the netinstall window pane when trying to netboot + powering & pressing reset button. Tried with Ethernet port of laptop (192.168.88.25; netboot bootserver IP set to 192.168.88.12; on isolated LAN with no other Enet connections). Tried connecting to hAP Lite Port1 (Ether1) and Port2. The Port1 LINK LED comes on and just blinks continuously in a fixed on/off pattern regardless of whether a device or even cable is even connected. Tried resetting config from the RouterOS GUI but no diff.
As far as switching ports and not using Port1/Ether1, I need all four ports of a device.
Seems like HW fault. Do ether1 port visually looks good and there is no marks about damage from over-voltage? If device still have warranty, revert it back to RMA.
