hap mini - not enough space

Hello!

Untill now i could install new fw with rebooting + deleting all the files, but now with long term 6.47.10 i cant free up enough space, it says i have 6.5MB with no files, used as a basic wifi ap.
What to do? Surelly throwing away is no option and i have to do it remotely.

Any help appreciated.

this has been discussed “ad nausea”, try the search facility some times…

Options are:

  1. Netinstall, or
  2. Only install “services” that is required

The procedure is to disable packages you don’t need (if any, this may be an issue) and reboot (maybe not absolutely necessary); then download the “additional packages” archive of 6.47.10, extract it, upload only those packages which you have left enabled; if they fit, reboot the router, and it should upgrade.

ppp, mpls, and routing are the usual candidates for disabling.

yeah i googled first but found only post from 2020 and 2019, thought things might changed bc this is the first time i couldnt install an update since years…

will try, thank you.

Personally, I would leave ppp, as this might be needed for VPN / PPPoE. I typically remove/uninstall the following on small client CPEs:

  • hotspot

  • ipv6

  • mpls

  • routing

I also remove wireless if not required

This still does not work. Disable all packages but system, npk file does not fit. try to uninstall individual packages and says can not uninstall.

Load up netinstal it see’s the unit, click it, select your package, says installing. says complete, reboot still old package.

Download the individual packages, only add the system package. reboot, log says not enough space to upgrade.

It cannot uninstall them because they came in the bundled file. But it normally can replace the ones marked for use by same packages of a different version loaded as separate npk files, dropping the complete bundle from the previous version.

That simply means that the netinstall didn’t actually work. How long, in seconds, it took from installing to complete?

If everything but the system package was disabled when you did this, that’s serious.

same, cant update any small ap, disabling packages dont work as told. do we have to get new hardware or does mikrotik do something for this problem to be solved? we have a few hap mini’s and cant do anything now.

Do it by netinstall.

Regards.

But i cant do that remotely, right? Is it 100% that it will have enough space after that? Dont wanna travel and get error messages after that, i dont have any spare from these little APs.

im just checking what to buy, bc this isnt going to fix itself and i see that hap mini is still being advertised, while not mentioning that its not compatible with the new updates (without fuckin around) what a shame.

  1. Downgrade to an older smaller version, then upgrade to latest version.

Wifi takes up some room so export your config to have your wifi settings ready to go, then remove the old wireless package and then try to upload new firmware.
