HAPac^2 Ethernet Mode

Hello, we’ve recently switched from RB750Gr3 to the hAP ac2’s thinking we could enable Wifi on a case by case basis.

I was attempting to disable Wifi on the router and noticed its quickset switches to CAP and then behaves like a bridge.
I have tried manually bridging needed ports and adding ether1 as a WAN interface. This did not resolve the issue.
I’m wondering if there is something I’m missing, or if with the hAP ac2’s Wifi has to be enabled for them to behave like a router?

Return to default config.

Then use Webfig or Winbox to simply disable wifi interfaces (don’t delete, use disable :open_mouth:  ).

Unfortunately, that is what I was doing, and it wasn’t working. It would do as I described, resort to CAP’s mode.

As in: I disabled wifi interfaces via UI (of any kind) but wifi signal was still being transmitted? Or is it you expected the button magically dissable/enable wifi interfaces without you configuring anything special? Or something completely different?

My view:
Then you did not reset to default config.
You can also do this from Winbox/webfig, you know ? System / reset configuration.
Uncheck Caps mode
check Keep users.
Uncheck No Default config
Check Do not backup

The first rule of quickset is: don’t use quickset. That’s only good to set a few very standard configs. Use Webfig or Winbox.
