I am a newbie for mikrotik. We have a network which has about 200Mbits/sec wan connection. I wonder how will work a 1U RB 1000 on my network. Can it handle this traffic? I will use queues to limit bandwidth of my clients. I won’t use it as a firewall. Just for bandwidth management.

I have an Intel Xeon 5040 server with two gigabit ethernets as a second choice. Which one should I use?

If you already have a server I’d just go ahead and put RouterOS on it. If you do decide to go with the RB1000 it should have more than enough power.
