Hardware for an access point?

Aynthing from Mikrotik to recommend? This is for a smaller office setup. Dual band required (2.4 AND 5ghz - we try to use 5ghz where possible, but not all devices can do it). Need good throughput and enough power to 2 walls

I found ntohing from Mikrotik that seems to fit - considering netgear now, hey have a decently looking access point, but I thought I ask before just closing that off.

RB433 + R52n or R52Hn.

You may want to go with a pair of RB711 AP, one for 2.4GHz and one for 5GHz.

I wouldn’t touch a Netgear, and that has been my opinion of them from before I got into wireless. I’ve had nothing but trouble out of their routers. Switches, cards, etc, work great, but Netgear routers are garbage in a shrink wrapped box.

Couldn’t agree more. A 433 with a pair of R52Hn cards will do exactly what you need.

The only limitation I can see with the 433 is the indoor case only has 3 antenna ports. Two R52n cards would need 4 antennas to work best.

The case could be modified to support another antenna.

I agree. Go for a RB 433 with R52Hn and have a modified casing. You will have a full MIMO and Dual Band setup. The mini PCi card power is good enough for 2 walls although it depends what antenna’s you are using. Suggested preferably 8 dbi omni’s.

So your indoor dual band AP setup includes:
RB433 - 1 pc.
R52Hn - 2 pc.
8 dbi omni - 4 pc.
Enclosure box - 1 pc.

Netgear /Tplink /Dlink can never match it.

use one Metal2SHPn and one Metal 5SHPn
or one Groove A-2Hn and one Groove A-5Hn

Panoptic makes some devices that may be able to help.

I’m running RB493G+R52Hn more than a year; in general wireless is completely useless. Constant disconnects, low bandwidth.
In Wireless network connection status when WinXP Laptop connected to RB493G+R52Hn Wi-Fi AP no Network name displayed, just empty field. Tried different settings from WiKi and forum - no result.
In order to get normal Wi-Fi AP I was forced to debrick Linksys E2000 with DD-WRT, and connect it to RB493G as AP.

I have setup hundreds of APs with this setup and never had any problems.
