First let me say if this has been asked my apologies.
I have a 951G 2HnD and have set the SSID, I can see and change this SSID as I wish.
I want to do the same thing to the hardwired connection name.
For instance when I use wifi to connect I connect to CKLS15, no problem
When I disconnect from wifi and plug the Ethernet cable in to the laptop the name is Republic_Library. I need to change the name of this connection as this router will not be used at this library and don’t want to confuse the librarians. I have looked everywhere I can think of to change this. I have seen one page that I thought would allow me to change this name but after I clicked apply configuration it did not stick and I can not find my way back to the page. This page looked like the quick set page but without the Wireless setup info.
RouterOS doesn’t have such name. This must be the name of your laptop, so you must look how to change it in Windows
Thanks for the reply.
Defiantly not the name of the laptop, on several different laptops I see this hardwired connection show up as Republic_Library. I believe the field I am looking for is MikroTik Identity. I can not seem to find this field anymore. I saw it last when I was at the quick set tab. Normally when at this tab I see wireless settings, static, automatic, and pppoe options, as well as dhcp tick box and various other settings to the right side. Another field in that area use to be MikroTik Identity but since update I can no longer see that field in the quick set area. I am running v6.29.1 and think I set this name before I took that update.
System > Identity
Thanks for the reply.
When I get to the lab today I will check that, and then feel pretty ridiculous that I could not find that. ![]()
Never mind. Once you get used to winbox you’ll know from memory where everything is ![]()
To locate where a certain parameter is (provided is set) you can go to New Terminal and issue an export.
