I recently bought a RB411UAHR w/ Sierra Wireless MC7710, around the same time I also bought a second MC7710 and one of these each;

Now I have yet to receive these yet, but with some of the problems I’ve read about these could be quite useful especially that if it doesn’t work I can use a desktop with Linux (Ubuntu is my favorite) running the wireless usb (MC7710 mPCI-e to usb adapter with SIM card slot) and iptables. Now it wouldn’t be the most elegant outdoor solution, but I’d rather have some internet than none at all.
A few quick notes:
Of those 2 I linked the second one seems that it’ll be the most promising, considering that you can see the SIM card reader on it (i think)
The MC7710 is one GPS antennae (antenna) and primary and optional (secondary) antenna (2 GSM antenna)
I only managed to successfully use the MC7710 ONCE and only once for a whole day or so before I bricked the RB trying to make a wireless bridge, then having not serial - usb cable was forced to reset the RB to never again have internet on it…
Best part would have to be that you can power cycle these because there external from the RB, sounds almighty useful?
Now has anyone used something like this before? I’ll be very interested on the everyone’s opinion on this/these.
