Have I broken my RB SXT 5HPnD ?

Hi,
I have been experimenting with a short PtP 1.5Km link using two of these devices. Initially I used this post
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Bridging_Networks_with_SXT to set them up. I was getting a CCQ of 80/80 approx, and signal levels of abou -67 Db.

They initially worked fine, and with Nsteme enabled, I was getting 50 Mbps through put.

Trying to go the max, I experimented with things like 20/40 MHz chan width, using superchan freq mode, Country, etc. At one stage I was getting a throughput of 100 Mps, which I was happy with.

However, it does look now like the RF transmit parts of the card are broken (maybe by trying to run too much power). I can connect to both of them via WinBox via the cat5, and can see other WiFis using the scanner, but cannot connect via 5GHz RF to either of them using the Wireless/Scanner utility.

Could the cards in these two be dead by my misconfiguration? Is there a way to tell via WinBox if this is the case?

Any help appreciated, I am something of a newby to WiFi links like these.

What makes you think that something is broken? Do you see the other end when Scanning? If so, what signal do you see? What happens if you attempt to connect? Anything in the Log?

Yes, if you manually enter too much TX power, and run it for a while, it can damage the transmitter. The TX-power setting is meant to reduce power. Max is reached when using the value “Default”.

Hi Normis,

Thanks for the quick reply. UUmm, looks like the cards might be damaged. I cantg see anything in the scanner, other than other wiFis in the area, but not the one I am looking for.

Sadly the log is lost, as I have rebooted.
