Just got the RB 951G Mikrotik Router and configured for hotspot as in the e-book downloaded. I wanted to limit the download to say 20 mb so i indicated the product of 1024x1024x20 in the “transfer” but nothing in “upload” and “download” but whenever I sell the hotspot ticket, it logs customers with laptop or even the PC out automatically or midway into their surfing and has to give them another ticket. This is giving me sleepless night as the purpose of limiting users is being defeated. Please what do I do to address this issue.

Can you please try to explain in more detail what you are trying to do here.
It sounds like you want to allow people to surf but limit the size of files they can “download” to save onto their computer.
In this case there is a distinction without a difference. Surfing and downloading do the same thing. Files are transferred from a web server to a local machine and then either displayed on the screen in the browser or saved into a folder on the computer. However there is no difference with how the transfer is done that would allow you to track it.
If you want to limit bandwidth hogs you could set a small queue size and allow a short burst duration or a small amount of burst data allowing the user to spool up to a faster speed.
If you could explain what you would like to do we can help come up with a solution.

I operate a public cybercafe where people come to surf the net and go according the voucher bought but lately I run @ loss because users’ download limit is not restricted like login out automatically when the limit is exceeded. Please help me shed light on how Router-RB 951G can be used to achieve this purpose where users can be timed and the allocated bandwidth on voucher “say 20mb” when exceeded would be timed out automatically. Please show me whether to use “download”, “upload” or “transfer” limit or any other thing to configure so as to achieve this. Please respond promptly.
Thank you.
If you want to limit their total usage in and out then you would be using Transfer.
If it isn’t cutting them off after the amount of transfer then look closely at the config as running. It may be as simple as a priority system that prioritises time over data or something. Maybe others can chime in on this.
If you provide a print out of the config you are running and confirm what your ticket generator puts into the system.
