HELP ASAP! Live tower will not upgrade to 4.6

Hello folks.

I have a situation, please no time for details. However I am at 3.3, and have upgraded bootloader. Updated liscence. Uploaded 4.6, rebooted MULTIPLE times. It will not upgrade.

What am I doing wrong or missing?

Thanks!

I have tried this on 3 different RB600s…

Hmm, I must really be missing something.

Bootloader is 2.20.

Silly question, but I have to ask: you’ve downloaded the PowerPC version, right?

Also, you are uploading the file to the root of the filesystem and not putting it inside of another folder (like hotspot). Is that correct?

Hello!!

Thanks for your response!

Yes to both of those. I have tried to 3 others now. Its gotta be something I am missing.

Look at the other topics. There is something wrong with the packages. They dont work.

I have been all over the threads, didnt see that. But I do in the log now. What can I do, should I go with 4.5 or something you think?

Ive got ~100 devices on 4.5 and everything seems peachy.

Can someone email or link to 4.6 or 4.5?

Looks like others are having the same problem I am. The 4.6 download is no good right now. I will post it on our webservers if you can send it to me.

I got 4.5 from here…

Works Fine.

i downloaded the 4.6 just fine…
will try to do the upgrade in a rb333…

4.6 will download fine, it just wont load into a router.

already upgraded 1 rb 433 with mipsbe
3 rb 133 with mipsle

from 4.5 to 4.6

Using the complete package, I just tried updating our test RB600. I first tried from 4.5 to 4.6 using the winbox upload/reboot method, which was successful. I then netinstalled 3.30 to start with a clean slate. Finally, I then uploaded 4.6 and rebooted the router. This was also successful.

I did have problems with netinstall version 4.6 properly doing a netboot (had to go back to netinstall 4.5), but that’s the only issue I ran into.

Thats interesting that a few seem to be working, because I’ve tried both the 400 series and the Intel/AMD versions and I can’t get either machine to upgrade. I have tried downloading from the USA site with a browser and also doing a fetch. The packages download fine, but after rebooting the logs say “System error Broken Package”. I have tried downloading from several machines and I am trying to upgrade from 4.5 to 4.6. I just wanted to get a jump on testing before I put it on any production gear.
I am wondering where and how the downloads were completed for those of you that have had success with 4.6

try individual packages

i downloaded the packages from the “germany” mirror

Gets them all…

Sorry, but why are you upgrading a ‘live tower’ with a firmware that has just been released ? That’s asking for problems…
