HELP! Backup files not restoring!

I decided to do an upgrade to 2.9.42 tonight on our main router and thought I was safe since I have a script that creates a backup every night and emails it to me. Long story short, my upgrade didn’t go as planned and I ended up having to use a backup file.

The problem I’m having it that when I try to restore a backup file from Winbox or console it appears to work and reboots, but nothing is restored when it boots back up.

I have several hundred backup files going back to October '06. None of the recent ones seem to work. I can get some backups to load from October but a lot has changed since then.

I’ve tried ftping the files in binary and ascii mode, also dragging the files though winbox. Nothing seems to work.

The file from October seems to work, but none of the more recent and larger backups.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Gerard

Gerard,

Try loading them in by hand instead…

/system backup load name=office-2007mar23.backup

Make sure that the name equals the real file name.

Matt

I’ve tried that already.. No luck..

It took me 4+ hours to reconfigure everything to get my customers back online.. I never realized how long it takes to lookup and then add several hundred routes..

Can anyone from mikrotik let me know if there is anyway to recover my config from these backup files? I also have several supouts from before and after the crash happened.. I have a few hundred queue’s, firewall rules, address lists, etc I just don’t have anyway to recover.

Thanks,
Gerard
