Help choosing optimal hardware

Hello,

We have a two ring system that requires ~22 routers, utilizing ospf between routers, and vpls tunnels. There are two “hub sites” where the tunnels from each site will terminate. Dispersing several vlans to several devices. The the “hub” sites will have ~18 vpls tunnels (one to each remote site) There will need to be prioritization and queues as they are all linked together with licensed microwave hops.I have been looking at the rb1100 ah4, but am worried about switching performance bridging vpls to vlans.
The plan will be two routers at the “hub” site in a backup config (using split horizon)
This will predominantly be carrying voice and camera traffic, so latency needs to be minimized.

Best suggestions?

One of the most important factors is what amount of traffic will the routers be dealing with.
Without knowing that, it’s hard to make a good recommendation.

The licensed links are all ~150 mb/s. The voice traffic is low, but all sites get the traffic at the same time. Each of the vpls tunnels should be capable of 10mb/s. The big thing is latency. One of the other reasons I was looking at the ah4 is I believe its the only device that will run off of -48vdc telco power.

1100AHx4 will do just fine with only a few hundred megs of traffic.

Make sure to properly configure MTUs on all layers (L2, MPLS, VPLS tunnel interfaces, VLANs, L3) to avoid fragmentation.
