My ISP comes into an RB750G (eventually going to be upgraded to a CCR). One of the ports there is configured as a trunk back to my home office, which has the CRS226. The CRS will not be doing any routing at all. It will simply trunk the few subnets I have in my office back to the 750, which will do the routing and send things back down the trunk. Regardless, I can’t seem to reach the CRS management IP from anywhere, unless I’m plugged directly into the CRS on an untagged port. I have a management VLAN that I’d like it to be on, which trunks back to the 750, but I just can’t figure out the right way to get the MIP assigned and be accessible. Any help is appreciated!
Do you have an IP assigned to the VLAN? Is the VLAN assigned to the master interface?
Yup. I had that all done but it didn’t seem to be working. I went through the whole thing again this morning and magically it worked this time!
I do have another issue…hopefully I’ll figure it out tonight, but I’ll go ahead and put it up now…
I have a Pi functioning as an Avahi gateway to allow AirPlay/AirPrint across my various subnets. All the necessary VLANs are trunked from my RB750 back to the CRS where the Pi is plugged in. I have the Pi configured with tagged VLAN interfaces, so I set up the CRS port as a trunk port. Here’s the interesting part…if I log into my 750, I can ping all the addresses on the Pi, but if I try to ping from anywhere else on the network, I can only ping the link-local address i.e. I can ping the VLAN 200 Pi address from another other machine on VLAN 200, but I can’t ping the VLAN 501 or 801 Pi addresses from a VLAN 200 machine. I have no filtering rules set up on my 750, so it shouldn’t be dropping the pings - traceroute confirms they reach the router but go dead after that.
To further muddy the waters, I CAN ping the management IP of the CRS (VLAN 1) from a machine on VLAN 200. So it seems like my 750 is selectively routing certain connections but not others.
