Help deciding which AP to get.

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if you guys would be able to help me or advise what Mikrotik to get.

I have a ASUS RT-N66U which is at my home, and I have my out building which where I work and play games when I am bored, at the moment I am using an wireless N Ethernet converter (Buffalo WLI-TX4-AG300NEU) which has been working great until recently when randomly the wifi drops and takes a few seconds to minutes to reconnect which has been driving me crazy.

So lately I decided right I’m gonna put a wireless point to point AP bridge between the two building, at first I brought two TP-Link CPE510 hooked them up on the out building side they were connected to a Netgear GS108 switch got them running latency was lower than my previous setup via pingtest.net. But when I finally got down to playing games, then the horror happens latency playing CS:GO was minimum of 50ms (when I usually get 15-30ms) and the lag spikes were everywhere hitting 1000ms every 20 seconds. I am in the process of returning these TP-Link’s.

Now I am back to where I started. I have been having a look at the SXT 5 ac, would getting two of these and hooking them up similar to TP-Link provide better performance than the TP-Link?

Best regards

Mo

Hello Mohala
I may be late to respond to this but , Just incase you still need support on this, first of all how far is the Distance we are talking about.

from your information provided I will recommend the Mikrotik: SXT 5hpnd which you are going to setup in bridge mode and this should be able to give you a better reception than the TP-Link but depending on how you point the both APs

I could assist you in setting up the devices.
