Hi
my name is john and I’m a student.
I’m trying to set up a wifi network in school to distribute wifi to students in my school hostel. I am however having issues determining the best devices to suit my needs.
I plan on covering 5 hostel blocks
each hostel block is about 66 meters long, the hostels are in parallel, hence, the total area I plan on covering is about 100m².
I plan on having up to 120 concurrent users at peak usage hours.
my main issue now are:
choice of router, to give me peak performance(I’m on a budget, but I need a recommendation that should get the job well done, with extra allowance)
method of covering the area basically if I should go with antennas; I don’t know if to get an Omni directional antenna. or use access points (I do not have hands on experience on how far these can cover)
please advise.
please find attached the hostel build plan; my room is shaded in ash.
I’d appreciate your response
please… I’ve been studying Mikrotik for over a week now
at least 10 hours daily but there are things only experience can teach
all these spec sheets don’t always prove true in real-world scenarios
If you can help, I’d appreciate
Mikrotik do not have best WiFi…wait for device with wifiwave2, you should wait for cAP ax [cAPGi-5HaxD2HaxD] (r2)…or you may check UniFi AP with WiFi 6 standard…
I believe it. I spent hours and hours for almost a week with L3 HW Offload bug fixes.
MT has most of the information there; it’s just spread out here and there.
Some MT text doesn’t make sense unless you experience it failing.
Anything sophisticated as MT products is tough the first time.
