In my lan I have around 4 computers ( sometimes more when friend come with laptop etc… ) ., but my brother all time use p2p torrents etc. I told him 100000 times " STOP use torrents " because when he use., others cant play any games ..
Ok., here is what I wanna to do :
** Is it possible to make " rule " ., when mikrotik see " p2p " connection ( bittorent or anything ) , to slow his connection to ( 20kbps upload, 250kbps download ) and that speed remain next 5 - 10 min ! ., so maybe he will learn to stop use torrents . maybe it help ., he have fixed IP address., to put rule to only his IP if he start using p2p ? usual his connection is on speed 200kbps upload and 4mbps download. **
I seen that somewhere on forum that someone do it., but cant find it.. was long time ago when I read on forum that kind of command or what was that…
ok ., I put in queue list " all-p2p " limit 1k . hope that will helps..
but., need teach him somehow lesson to stop use torrents… cant monitor all time all day is he start or not use p2p ( he use bit torrent program ) ., I already few time delete program from his computer when he was not home., but he again and again install it
when I see he use I log in router and slow him connection .. so he stop use it. he cant login to router , that is good thing only I change speed .. but I need some kind of auto-option ., to slow his IP when he do that again.. need to teach him ! ( DONT USE TORRENTS )
You can do the same with your game traffic (you can mark it by selecting the game port), and create a new queue without bandwith limit, and set priority to 1
By doing that, your can play fine and your brother can download
You could also mark http, voip, etc connections.
That connections will have highest priority and, if there’s enough bandwitdh, your brother can use it for torrent
..
