PC1 and PC2 link to a switch , switch link to MT , MT link to a File Server.
PC1 and PC2’s os is Windows XP , and these gateway is 192.168.0.1
File Server’s os is windows server 2003
MT have 2 intel nics, and MT is 2.9.6
These IP address show on Picture .
I want to let PC1 and PC2 access the FILE SERVER , explorer and copy files from File server .
On pc1 , using \10.1.1.1\file to access File Server’s file.
But , why PC1 and PC2 could NOT access the File Server at the Same time ?
for example :
when pc1 is coping file from \10.1.1.1\file , if pc2 explorer or copy files from \10.1.1.1\file , now PC1 will stop copying .
On MT , no set about Firewall Rules and Mangle , and the NAT is Src-Nat - Masq .
pc1,pc2 and file server’s OS , file access rights , user rights and the network have no problems .
In this condition is better, when you are using 'Map Network Drive' in each Windows'XP features, cos you have access it with different system, subnet and interface. or you make firewall policy rules for access other to the server. but is not easy to make it firewall [dstnat and srcnat]. i think with first option is fast and easy solution.
since u are using netbios over TCP correctly i have to ask:
have you tried the file server on the same swtich or better yet, locally but still through the MT router?
I say that to elimate the server as the issue here..i know on win 2003 server you can set max connection limit, and also to boot exisiting connections for new ones. otherwise, all i can say is i have teh EXACT same setup as you at an install..but like 20 computers on the client side..then wireless link to a offsite single fileserver..all through a l2tp tunnel…all mt equip + cheap cisco switch that has no config options set on the clients side…so maybe try using a tunnel if what i suggested in the top works and the server is clear..
if I use pc1,pc2,file server link to one Switch , and set these IPs :192.168.0.0/24 , it works fine !
I still do not know , when cross MT to access upper Network 's file server’s file like this \10.1.1.1\file , why pc1 and pc2 could not
copy files at the same time ?
Once PC2 explorer file server’s file , PC1’s connection to file server will disconnect or stop .
