Newbie to MikroTik devices and RouterOS, and also not really a super techie network guy (I know just enough to be “dangerous”). In our office I deployed a MikroTik Routerboard RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN wireless router which is connected to our broadband service. Also, behind the router’s switch I deployed a MikroTik RB951Ui-2HnD access point to extend wireless coverage to the far end of our office. Both devices are broadcasting their own SSID - for the sake of my question let’s say the Wifi router’s SSID is BL-LABS and the access point’s SSID is BL-LABS-SOUTH. Our employees are connecting to BL-LABS-SOUTH (RB951Ui-2HnD, AP device) no problem - all good. But every once in a while when someone connects to BL-LABS (RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN, router device) they don’t have Internet access. Also, I happened to notice when in this state - i.e., connected to BL-LABS w/out Internet connectivity - when I hit http://192.168.88.1 and log in with my Web browser it’s actually hitting the Web maintenance UI for the access point (BL-LABS-SOUTH) - even though Wifi is connected to BL-LABS. Then if I bounce Wifi on the laptop and then connect back to BL-LABS it usually fixes itself (sometimes takes a couple iterations). I obviously don’t have the devices configured quite right - suggestions?
Follow-up: I changed the AP’s config to use a static IP and that seems to have resolved the issue (before it was using DHCP). But now I can’t seem to access the AP’s web config UI - I hit 192.168.88.2 and it hangs. Any suggestions? Thx.
