help wanted: thoughts on EoIP MT to MT VPN setup?

I am configuring an RB751G for use on travels to connect to my home router RB760iGS.
For the configuration i need help or ideas on what to use.
I am confused over the amount of protocols and setups…

What i want to do:

  1. connect my RB751G to a network via ether1/wlan (hotel, university etc.).
This works with both wlan and ether1, but risks double NAT.
  2. connect the RB751G to my, own fixed IP, RB760iGS via VPN or Site to Site
  3. have EoIP over the tunnel so that LAN subnet on the RB751G is the LAN subnet on the RB760iGS

What i need help with:

  • the best VPN protocol to use on the RB751G that has IP “unknown” and can be double NAT.
  • links to resources that can help me

I do not need ready cooked configs etc, just some pointers what could be used to achieve my goal

Thanks!
Peter

Use EoIP with IPsec, but at home the IP must be fixed

Thanks for your hint.

I am now trying to make it work.
There are a lot of guides, but they seem to be obsolete.
My first step is making L2TP work without ipsec and then enabling ipsec on the connection.
After that i will try EoIP to get going.
Anyway, it is fun to find out how to get it going.

Links to documentation or configuration examples appreciated.

As soon as wireguard is out of the beta stream and into the next version release, it is the way to go, fast and easy to setup.

Thanks anav!

Wireguard looks good, but as you stated it is still in beta.
Looks very promising though.
