Login to your router with Winbox,
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/First_time_startup

IP address is configured by IP —> Address menu.

thanks for the info. but there is something else i just discovered. win i try to login with winbox it shows and error message “could not connect to IP 192.168.88.1 on port 20561” i also tried using the mac address to login but it came up with the same error message. and it does not assign any ip addreess to my system. pls. help any ideas what could be the problem.

THANKS FOR THE INFO. I GOT IT WORKING. NOW I AM PRESENTED WITH ANOTHER CHALLENGE 1 HAVE A WINDOWS BASED SERVER GIVING OUT IP ON 192.168.0.1 (DHCP) HOW DO I GET MY RB433 AP TO CONNECT WITH THE DHCP SERVER AND GIVE OUT INTERNET TO ITS USERS.

  1. configure dhcp-client on interface, that is connected to Windows server.

  2. add private IP address to local interface;
    setup DHCP-server on local interface.

  3. Configure /ip firewall nat masquerade rule

got it! all i needed was to configure the ap as a full transparent bridge.
