Morning folks,
I’m trying to reset the config on a router which is stuck in CAPs mode (I think). I’ve tried so many ways to reset or access the device short of solder a serial cable to the thing.
Steps I’ve tried.
- Holding reset, insert power, wait for USR light to blink (around 5 seconds)
- Same as above but starting with button not pressed, insert power, wait for blinking
- Netinstall, set up my windows 10 PC with netinstall, did the process both with and without power in first
- Winbox via MAC, It connects, warns about an applied CAPs config, with a button to remove or show script and then it disconnects after 3-4 seconds
4i) to combat the disconnect I tried disabling IPv6, running in admin mode, setting an IP to 192.168.88.4 (less than 10 so out of dhcp range) - I’ve installed a DHCP server to see if it can get an IP, winbox and wireshark report 0.0.0.0 as the source IP, which is could be the source of the problem
I’ve done the above with Wifi disabled on my PC too. I can see in wireshark the BOOTP request come in but the source is 0.0.0.0 so it does nowhere and never appears on netinstall.
please help, winbox reports version as 6.47.7
