Hello, I have a hEX S setup currently where I am not using the SFP port, so I’m using eth1 as WAN port. After looking over the block diagrams, it seems I don’t fully understand if its preferred to distribute the load between the WAN port, 3,5 primarily and then plug any remaining devices into jacks 2 and 4 or if it would be better to have the WAN plugged into eth1 and a switch plugged into eth2 or 4 for max performance?
Situation: hEX s receives WAN at eth1. An unmanaged switch plugged into eth2 is handling 4 AP’s at once. Would I get better performance if the switch were plugged into eth3 or should I keep it plugged into eth2?
I think I’m trying to figure out if it would be better to connect the WAN to the SFP port so it has it’s own lane or if there is some kind of performance advantage to have the WAN connected to eth1 and the switch with the AP’s on eth3 so it’s on the same 1gb/s lane.
