hEX S number 2 solid blue light

lt;dr:
This will be my second blue light no activity hEX S that I got on amazon that I am returning.. (first was a replacement, amazon only offers a return of this replacement)

I have now ordered a regular hEX RB750Gr3

Any suggestions for trying to keep this one?

details..
Both were sold by GETIC came with 6.8.x on the board and I updated to the latest 7.x (both within the last 30 days)

1st ordered May 10th, arrived maybe two days later, and before the 15th I would have flashed it, RMA’d by May 30th.

  • this unit directly updated to 7.x and firmware

2nd ordered May 30th, scheduled the return last night June 14th..

  • this unit I updated to the latest 6.9 first then to 7.x and firmware

This unit is also sold by GETIC.. and will arrive June 16th..

I have a network space at home for testing units and configurations for work.. I have a floor model minuteman ups powering a Google Nest Pro, a GK41 dual nic (r8169 driver) running vyos rolling, EdgeRouter4 running openwrt, a netgear 5port gs305 for unmanaged, and gs108e for when I need to quick test vlans, and a netgate 6100 for opnsense/pfsense and 10G, for a unifi 48-500w, and unifi 8-150w.. most of which is not being used, and not plugged in at this time..

Cable modem in garage, also on ups, feeds to the vyos in the house, which goes to the 305, then the Nest Pro, and the Nest Pro feeds to another 305.. I can bring devices in at any point and swap the 305s for the 108s for testing whatever and bring in other equipment if more configuration is required.. and everyone in the house gets to keep their wifi working.. 50 ish devices 200/30 cable.

I cannot remember in the last 10 years when I lost a device at home.. Full Disclaimer: the Mrs has lost hair dryers, which is why I have the ups’ for my equipment.. (OT a whole bunch of neutral bonding’s and inconsistent grounding, tons of daisy chained power.. need new panel as current is full - cannot pull clean runs; etc..)

more details:
hEX S power supplies were both the saw30-240-1200U.. when the RB unit died it was making an electrical buzzing sound and the blue light was solid, regardless of how long holding the reset down, with or without power, before or after power.. just always blue; no eth activity lights.. I was using the unit with winbox directly connected over eth3 (in bridge with eth2 and eth3) connected by mac address. Dell 3400 on battery, win11 fresh install 5-10? days ago.. Siemons patch cable 6’. Eth1 getting dhcp from the google nest, bridge1 assigning dhcp.. was working on adding multiple IPs to eth1 to srcnat instead of masq to control what IPs would appear as.. Also poking around at ospf.. eth1 and eth3 were lit, winbox was disconnecting more than usual but would reconnect, wrote it off to the mac connection.. final time it wouldn’t reconnect, lights still showed activity, disconnect/reconnect of eth cables lights would acknowledge.. arp on the win11 showed the mac still.. opened new cmd arp -d, mac never came back.. pulled power only blue. Unit was warm, but nothing out of the ordinary.. after trying all the reset button contortions.. let it sit 10 minutes hoping for something..

Is there a console cable possibly? so if this happens a third time that I can possibly get more information?

Is there a better more reliable low power unit for home testing? Wanted the SPF cage just to pass different modules through it and see what works and doesn’t.. (if possible)

Looking at asking work to get a quote for a CCR2216 or CCR2004 to replace a Dell 7024F.. but feel pretty stupid making a recommendation when I can’t get a unit working at home..

Thanks for listening..
