I am looking for an elegant decision of a problem such as follows: a small omni is nearby several 2.4GHz antennas with some ant. Boosters and I have a trouble to connect 6-7 client stations (max. distance is about a km, clients use 20dB antennas and above). What can I do if amplifiers are 250-500mW and my omni is 12dB standard omni. I’m trying to use Prism II wireless card 200mW with omni and router OS 2.9.11 and so on. Is the SR2 the only right solution or I must use some amplifiers, etc.
To server client on 1 km radius, u don’t have to use any booster. u could just use a 65mw atheros card and everything is done. Try to do a freq scan and look out for the most quiet channel that u can use. If i could suggest, maybe u could use a sectoral antenna rather than using omni, because it’s very vurnerable to interference.
i know about atheros, but freq scan shows 35% and above in any freq in a scale. the signal str. is terrible on 1 km. so, i suppose, sect. antenna is better and i’ll try that.
