Hi
For my home network I am considering the following:
1x Chateau LTE12 (I already purchased it for the 4G+ capabilities, as fixed line is dreadful. Seem to be getting decent throughput - circa 130Mbps)
1x CRS328-24P-4S+RM as a switch (running RouterOS)
4x CAP AC’s for a mesh
5x Axis Communication IP Cameras (5MP)
1x NVR
Cables all Cat 6a
Network demand: aside from the IP Cameras, nothing very heavy i.e. I don’t need to VPN; Streaming: Netflix, games but only 2 different screens at most. Video calls, browsing. Few other IP devices (gate, doorbell etc), but not looking to hang fridge, oven etc off the network…
My background is networking but I no longer a true techie, and I am concerned about myself mis-configuring as much as anything so my questions are the following:
- Would anyone recommend a brand over Mikrotik for the above set up (I looked at Ubiquiti but don’t trust them).
- Is the CRS328-24P-4S+RM sufficient as a firewall / router / DHCP server (I don’t trust the Chateau as shipped with a Beta OS!)
- If the CRS328-24P-4S+RM is insufficient, what would people recommend?
- Any other ‘future proofing’ purchasing advice
- Any advice / links on the simplest and safety way to configure
Thanks
