We are facing interference issue with several AP’s running in our area…rite now we are using 3 sector anteena 120 degree Vertical 17dbi and 3 XR2 Cards (Freq = 2.4GHz)…i talked to the distributer of Mikrotik he suggested me to install Horizontal anteena instead of Vertical to solve the interference issue.
I just want to know is this true…does an horizontal polarisation antennas will solve some of the interference problem.?
if you have different polarisation you have very little interference from other link then. If you have 2 antenna that are polarised you can establish link with correct antenna position and then just turn one of the antenna 90 degrees in either direction and see how signal strength drops.
you can also introduce larger channel spacing if possible.
We are using Nano loco 2 at Client CPE…do i have to rotate the cpe or just change the polarisaton from AirOs.?
And is there any diffrence between these two regarding the coverage area ?
you can also introduce larger channel spacing if possible.
Yes we also tried with larger channel spacing but no solution…Do i need to make any other change if i replace our vertical polarisation anteena to Horizontal Polarisation Anteenas?
Thanks a lot..
Is there anyway to check the polarisation of Other AP’s running in our area…suppose they are on verticle…so its better for me to use horizontal.
Our base station is in Delhi there are lots of interference about 200 AP’s found in the survery…The tower height is 120 feet long…and there are 50 - 60 feet houses surrounded by the tower…please suggest me which polarity is better horizontol or vertical.
When you run a scan on vertical, you get more radios with good signal compared to horizontal, but if the reverse is the case, that means it moght not get better.
From experience, many people dont like using horinzontal bcos it does not go far which is one of the reasons it always have lesser interference.
What is your worst signal? if it is better than -70db, you will get good signal with horizontal say -75db and -75db without much interference is better tha -65db with high interference.
Also remember, the higher you can go, the better the signal expecially the clients side.
Looks like from what you have said you have two issues
first Interference - from channel congestion and possible AP performance using 802.11 protocol (and not NV2 as you are using UBNT CPE’s), the AP will slow down performance to match the slowest CPE all clients attached will suffer by having just one client with slow performance due to fresnel or lack of signal, low ccq,low snr, etc.
This is where NV2 really shines and the extra clients which can be associated with each AP but as soon MT solve disconnects issues it will be first choice everytime.
