i am thinking of installing hap lite inside room so it shares internet in same room and next room at right and next room at left. so 1 hap lite for three rooms.
i am thinking of this idea instead of installing wap or rb951ui in the corridor
any opinions.
one problem is theft of hap lite from the room.
second thought. is it enough for serving three rooms mobile devices? and bypsassing 1 concrete wall from main room left-right room?
here is the room plan of a floor.
room2 hap lite covers room1,room2,room3
room5 hap lite covers room4,room5,room6 etc
so you say is better to use rb951ui inside the room and not in the corridor.
is just one wall only. imagine you are inside a hotel room and you have one ap. next room should get the signal also.
i think i have to make a survey in my house or at the hotel just to check signal strength difference with haplite and rb951ui.
i am just curious if anybody has same experience with hap lite in hotel rooms?
hap lite for each room will be the best but this makes too much cabling and double the hap lites and totally double the cost.
i dont like installations with repeater mode. i prefer cable method so if there is a problem i know exactly which ap is off. (neighbour list)
where exactly to place the two 951ui ?
if i place at room 5 an rb951ui i dont think signal will penetrate 4 walls so it reach room 1.
i dont want rooms with dead areas. they will break my @@ calling me from reception “aaaa this room does not have good fast wifi” bla bla bla
I have a RB951G.
The signal penetrates 2 walls and it is at half. It depends of course from the distances and from the furnitures.
I believe that you will need 3 RB951 and select 1-6-11 channels
so is better to install rb951ui than hap lite and test if the signal is good two rooms next.
1 rb951ui for 5 rooms total.
in the next screen ap will be inside room 3.
Why not put the access points in the corridor? That way there is at most 1 door between any room and an AP. The signal should penetrate the door easier than a wall. You could even spoil your guests with something like HAP AC in an enclosure.
if i put in the corridor yes for the one door of the room 3 in the diagram is exact outside. for the other doors are far away to penetrate.
i am just asking for opinions. usually i place them in the corridor. but now i am looking to try something different
the time to install has come.
i have make my measures with hap lite (good reception 2.4 mhz) AND hap ac (not very good reception with 5ghz inside the room)
i will use 1 ap per 4 block of rooms and 1 ap per 2 rooms in a row. the ap’s will be installed outside of the doors of the rooms in the corridor.
any suggestions or experience with
rbwap2nd (54e)
rb951ui-2hnd (64e)
RB952Ui-5ac2nD (58e)
prices are in euro.
i am leaning to the RBWAP2ND that it has good price includes poe adapter, and the ap is screwed to the bracket so difficult to steal.
usually i am installing rb951ui-2hnd. but poe adapter is not included and no bracket to secure.
also hap ac lite is same price like RBWAP2ND and it gives u also 5ghz. but with the ap installed in the corridor, i was not satisfied with the signal in the room.
devices connected to each ap estimated to 10-15.
I would strongly recommended dualband AP’s, unless the hotel is in a remote location. In urban environments, stable connectivity at 2.4Ghz is an issue.
Whats the timeframe you want to install this? You might look at the upcoming wsAP ac lite. You can fix that one in a standard walls socket, so it makes theft a little harder.
Also, it has phone passtrough. (Which is usefull for hotels since they usually have a phone also).
For similar installations I usually use another well known vendor (with the round ‘UFO’ ap’s) but this AP looks also very promising for this kind of situations.
i have to finish this installation this month. i know the UFO ap. in the past i had make an installtion with them and they are working flawless.
i dont know but i want to choose mikrotik products for this install. ipcloud, romon, caps, winbox makes me want mikrotik!!!
finally i installed rbwap2nd. very discrete look, antitheft mechanism, you cant just take it with you. you need specific screwdriver to remove the device.
and capsmanager and romon to have full control. i miss the speaker in rbwap2nd.
