HI,
I have RB600 + 2 r52h cards, with 1 antenna on main connector each card. I want to have hotspot running on both wireless interfaces, so I followed theese steps:
Add a bridge
Enable RSTP on the bridge
Add the two wireless (with same SSID) interfaces to bridge
Enable hotspot on the bridge I’ve just created
but this way users registers only to wireless1 interface, so wireless2 result to be unused. There is no way to let users connect to the AP using both interfaces at the same time? I mean can I have RX and TX traffic managed by both interfaces? I think this way connection userto AP shoult improve..
otherwise.. can someone give me some help?
I have an RB600 with 3 XR2s and 3 120deg sectorial antennas.
All 3 radios are in ap mode, have different ssid in 2.4Ghz. Each of those interfaces is in a different subnet running separate dhcp and hotspot servers. However i use usermanager for authentication. That’s one option for you.
Another option would be to put the radios in ap mode and add (in your case) both wlan interfaces to a bridge. Assign ip to the bridge interface and setup hotspot server on the bridge interface. If you want to use the same ssid for both, then make sure they have the same frequency setting. Some have run into problems with hotspot on a bridge - can’t say why. http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/transparent-hotspot/30859/1 It’s worked fine for me, but i just don’t fancy bridging.
thanks for your advice..
the second option is the one I used before but the problem is that a user connects only to 1 radio, so it means the other one is unused. This way it is meaningless using (and buying) 2 radios (cause in my case I’m using omni antenna). I’m not expert so maybe it is correct to connect to just one wireless interface at the same time, maybe only 802.11n can use more radios to connect at the same time. You confirm?
