I’m currently troubleshooting a built hotspot using an external radius. The hotspot setup is working for the most part. Radius attributes are being passed to users and two-way communication between the radius and Mikrotik does exist. Authentication happens with no issues. However, I am not seeing proper bandwidth utilization statistics being tracked on the user in the Mikrotik. The current setup is a vlan over an interface with the hotspot applied to the vlan. I see the traffic active on the vlan, however I only see a few KB/s of traffic on the user as opposed to the MB/s of traffic that is seen on the vlan. To test this, I have been streaming 720p video on the client.
Secondary issue, which may be related to the first, I cannot seem to apply any bandwidth rate restrictions. I have passed rate limits as an attribute from the radius as well as set the rate within the hotspot profile with no success.
My question is; How do I have all traffic generated by the user to be tracked to the user, not just the vlan interface?
