I followed the hotspot configuration examples and tried at least 3 times. I end up having the same problem. I don’t have an internet connection to the router. If I try to connect to google under IE no go, Under Chrome I get “myhotspot/login” dns error or servernot found. I don’t understand. There is an entry in the IP DNS for “myhotspot” pointing to the RB750 router address. If I code an entry in the HOSTS file under my PC, I get the login menu…as it translates the myhotspot name to the Router address. Richard
That means your PC is not using DNS from the router. If it was, it would have the exact same outcome as using the hosts file.
Make sure your computer’s dns is pointing to the router, and make sure the router allows remote dns lookups, and make sure it isn’t blocked with any other rules.
You need the internal mikrotik dns to be working (with internet access). If not, create a catch all static dns entry on the Tik using a regexp.
