Hotspot Cookie Login - problems with IE7

Hi Folks,

I have a hotspot setup on ver 3.15, and the cookie login works fine with irefox, but not with IE7. When I hit the Logon button, I am returned to the logon page and have to renter my username and password again.

(I have another setup on ver 2.9.41, and IE7 works fine with that version.)

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

When you login with IE7 first time.
Cookie is generated or not ?
ip hotspot cookie print

Hi sergejs,

I am 99% certain that the cookie IS generated. I will treple check when I next visit the site (in abt 6 hours) and let you know.

I should say that the IE7 is running on XP, and the MT is running on a 493 board.

Its v strange, as the cookie login works perfectly with Firefox.

Hi,

I have just got back from the site, and can 100% confirm that the cookie is being generated.

Then to reproduce the problem I should test Windows PC.
Open IE7 browser and generate cookie, then make logout and try to login once again, correct ?

Hi Sergejs,

Yes, you’re correct. I hope you can reproduce the problem!

Hi Sergejs,

I wonder if you have been able to have a look at this for me yet, or if you will be able to soon?

Please let me know if you need any more information, etc.

Its important for us as we want to upgrade from ver 2.9 to version 3.x!!

I have tried on the Windows Vista and 3.16 HotSpot.

  1. Setup default HotSpot.
  2. Open IE7 and got login page;
  3. Enter login/password;
  4. removed myself from ‘ip hotspot active’.
  5. Refresh IE7 once again, Cookie was used.

Perhaps you can contact support and send support output file, which will contain the log of your login process [but check it is not related to the particular IE7 configuration].

Hi sergejs,

I have double (triple) checked that my IE7 DOES accepto cookies from other internet sites.

As you suggest, a couple of days ago I sent a description of the problem, plus a supout file to support. I have received an automatic acknowledgement ([Ticket#2008110966000094] Hotspot Cookie Logon) but no human response so far.

I would be very grateful if you could ask support if they are working on this, or if they dont have the resources. If I cant find a solution, I will have to revert to version 2.9, which I know doesnt have this problem.

We will see what we can do about your issue. Thank you for the support output, we are looking, where is the problem.

Thank you! I’ll be very interested to know what you find!

Hi,

I wonder if you found anything!!

Did you set the correct time in “/system clock”? If not, IE will not store a cookie that expired over 20 years ago.

Hi Surfer Tim,

BRILLIANT - no I hadnt, I have now, and its fine!
Many many thanks, I have been puzzling about this for some time
