Hi everybody =)
It seems i’ve got a dns problem here, wich i can’t fight myself. I’m using hotspot with mac-address authorisation and user manager. My clients are authorised without any problem and get their ip addresses, dns servers and gateways provided by DHCP server. Everything seems to be ok untill you’r trying to ping any domain - it constantly fails to lookup this name, however if you ping any ip - it works without any problem.
I’ve searched thru this board for several hours, checked similar issues but none worked for me:
I’ve got “Allow remote requests” in my DNS setting On.
Hotspot rules in NAT system seem to be ok too
As soon as i disable hotspot - all my clients start working just fine.
If i add a specific computer to Ip Binding list with “bypass” permissions - it works fine too.
I’ve tried re-creating the hotspot with double-checking all the setting and dns addresses - didn’t help =(
So there is a DNS issue somewhere in Hotspot system, but i can’t figure out where myself. Any help is very appreciated.
Thx in advance.
I had a challenge with dns when using the hotspot, but it has been a while. I found if I set the
/ip hotspot profile
dns-name to anything but blank (“”), it had trouble. Don’t know why. Might want to try that if it is set.
As I remember, it was a valid dns-name for the public ip of the network, but not its internal ip.
I was under the impression that could cause challenges. It did for me. It was just a thought.
