Hi,
I’ve quite simple question -
I’ve routerboard (rb411) running hotspot with my own login page. All is running well.
When an unauthorized user try to load some page from browser (ie www.google.com), will be redirected to login page.
BUT
When that unauthorized user try to load some https page (ie https://www.facebook.com), Server not found error occures.
Mikrotik simply doesnt redirect to login page, when I try to load some secured page.
I think it isn’t so complicated, bud I’m a bit lost in firewall rules.
The router can’t redirect HTTPS sessions to an HTTP login page. They are different things.
I’m not sure if you can get around this by having a valid certificate and building an HTTPS version of the login page or not. Whenever we have this problem we just advise the guest to go to google or yahoo and work form there.
The problem is that large amount of people at this network (internet café) goes to the fu*kin facebook immediately after connecting to the wifi And they then have lots of stupid questions …
But I think that must be a frequent problem and there must exist some solution..
Currently this is so. In places with public hotspot, you can instruct everyone to open a certain webpage to begin login/browsing. This should be a part of the procedure.
I have just purchased 4 routerboard 1100ah units for 4 hotels I support. I have my custom hotspot pages all setup and running great. Now my front desk staff is getting complaints from a ton of guests that are go directly to https pages that they dont get redirected to our pretty terms and conditions hotspot page. How can I get around this bug? Can we have an ssl cert available on the hotspot to redirect these users? I see the rules have changed between the documented 2.9 series where ssl is on a jump list rather than a redirect… however I cannot edit these hotspot firewall rules, they’re all greyed out.
How Can I get this fixed. I see the latest stable release is 5.8, is this being fixed in 5.9? Do we have a timeline for when will this be addressed?
I’m trying to light up all my hotels with routerboard devices but I need the features to work as advertised.
