HOTSPOT HELP

Hello all. Can not find an answer to my problem.

Have been building an installing networks for a long time, but am just getting into management of systems.

Have just taken over the management of a pay-as-u-go hotspot and have a problem.

The system has two ways to access internet.

  1. Static user name/password 2) a create an account.

Static login works great, but if a new user creates an account, they pay the fee, they get a e-mail that says that they payed, and I also get the same e-mail, BUT when the user attempts to use their user name/password, the system tells them that they are not a valid user.

All certs are current.

I know it is a setting that is not set correctly but I do not know where.

Any help?

Also, I am looking for some one in the western USA that does Mikrotik support.

Again, any help?

Thank you

need detailed configuration to pin point your problem. I think the accounts are not actived automatically. so the new users can’t access their ac.

In first, what “billing” you have - custom or what?
Second , when new user register and pay, then the “billing” need to add new username/password in Hotspot RB ‘users’ list or in RADIUS server (or UserMan).
Adding new credentials is the brake point , I think.

PP. Third , why need support to live near you? That is remote job :sunglasses:

“BILLING” (being payed by customer) works okey.

It is the authenation to the system that is the problem.

As for support ‘close’ to me, as long as it is on the west cost of USA, it would be better then needing support on Friday afternoon, placing a call that goes to some place that is any where from 2 to 10 hours ahead and not being able to talk to any one for several hours or even days.

I have a friend who has this problem.

His support is 4 hours ahead (his time 10am their time is 2pm) and always has to leave a message and then he is VERY lucky if he hears from them the same day, normal responce is late the next afternoon or if on Friday he hears from them on Tuesday.

You’re right about Time Zone difference  I have two clients , one is from Canada and second from Australia , and is funny when send me message in 1a.m. “Good morning”. But with local clients is same form me , when his network have trouble and need support. For them also does not matter what time it is, whether midnight if 5am. Maintenance is required to respond.

Well, now been 10 days and I see no valid responce to my question.

This is sad, as I see many posted from peaople with the indication that they work for or have lots of knowledge about Mikrotik equipment and setups.

At this time I do not belive that this is a very helpful site to come to for information.

I even tryed go to support/mikrotik.com and have had no responce.

I have also contacted several Mikrotik trainers and have not been able to get and help on setups.

I am now looking at getting a differant router and support group that can get my pay as u go system on line as I am tired of losing several hundreds of $$ for support (lacke of) and losing
customers and several thousands of $$ income.

To bad so sad, that the router and support is NOT up to the same standards as the WIFI/Radio equipment.

I ask you several questions in my first post?
Is not about money, just try to help!
But need information about the system you have, the principles etc.

I have found the answer to my problem in other places. It was two very simple settings that a NON Mikrotik cert. person found just using the same description of the problem that I posted here.

AND it did not take 10 days for an answer.

AND I did not have to give them any additional information.

So, can you share the solution with us?

It seems that within usermanager their are several differant locations that address the main IP address from the ISP.

The site was assigned a new IP from the ISP and no one told me about it.

If these settings are not set correcting then all payments are processed but the router will not get the correct authorization responce from the payment processer, (in this case it was paypal).

At this point I am calling this thread closed.

The site was assigned a new IP from the ISP and no one told me about it.

If you are talking about the PayPal site, it changes ips all the time. That problem isn’t new. I found it in September of 2010.

Here is the script I had to use to get PayPal to work with the walled garden.
