Hotspot login page request for login after succesful login

Hi folks,

I’m running and hotspot on a campus hostel.

there is 4 blocks (BLOCK A, BLOCK B, BLOCK C and the HQ where my office is located). All those blocks are covered with AP (Ubiquiti Picostation in AP mode) and the link comes to my office (HQ) by a Bridge (between nanostation M5, one at my office and one at each block).

When I make a test directly on the mikrotik (ethernet port, wlan, or run a cable to the ethernet port were the hotspot is set and add a picostation at the end as Access Point) I log in fine. can browse for long time.

But when I browse from the blocks, I log in once successfully, by the few upcoming seconds or minutes, the login page comes again and request for username and password. I long in, see the status pop-up and it comes again requesting username and password.

Honestly, I think the link between the blocks and the HQ building is not strong enough. I’m not a real network layer (2,3) professional but, Is there a way like, even if the TCP connection is broken or losed the end-user can continue to browse?

Open for any solution that can help me solve this $*% issue.

Regards

Make sure all the ubquiti radios on your network are put on bridge mode
You should also check the following
=On hotspot server profile ensure that “number of address per mac” is set to none
=Make sure your keepalive and idle timeout are set properly

If all these fail connect your computer directly to the each nanostation @ the hostel block and check if you experience the same problem, if you dont the check your APs thats probably where the issue.

Addition- rest the access point and leave all as default change only the mode (to ap) , ip to dhcp client and SSID and test

Hi airforce1,

Thanks for your attention.

  1. For the ubiquiti radios, they are all in bridge mode. We went to reconfigure them (after resetting). And We also made a test with only one block connected (less devices to manage). For the bridge mode it is ok.

  2. The nimber of address per MAC is 2 by defaulf and I set it to 1. Do you mean that I should remove it; switch it to none ?

  3. The keepalile (timeout) is 5 minutes per default. I switch it to 10. but we are logged out before 03 minutes. Sometimes in the same minute. ans it is not constant.

  4. the over timeout found is the Radius server Timeout. This on is 300 by default. But I set it to 5000 for 5 sec.
___To eliminate the radisserver, I have been using the Mikrotik user manager same thing. Using the users on IP > Hotspot > user… without radius server it is also the same thing.

Make sure your keepalive and idle timeout are set properly

Even on the Switch where the APs are, I experience the issue. I’ve done one link with -27dbm at this place things look correct.

Yes remove the number of address per MAC completely
