hotspot on a single interface

Hi,

is it possible to run a hotspot on a single interface (ether1) ?

I want the routeros to act as a dhcp server and hotspot (authentification, adverts)

i’m new to mikrotik (today i’ve put my hands on a RB433AH) and in the near future I need to know the RouterOS by the book, so i’m starting to try different setups, configurations, etc.
I have linux experience, but no RouterOS knowledge.

Any advices from where to start are welcome.

thank you.

Welcome to the world of Mikrotik Router Operating System and Router Boards.

Yes, it is possible to run a hotspot on a single interface (ether1), multiple interfaces or Bridge Interfaces.

The best place to start from is the ROS manual and wiki

well, i tried in a non-internet enviroment…

i setup dhcp on ether1 … works
i setup hotspot on ether1 … when i try to access any site, it is stuck to resolving host.

afaik, the hotspot should redirect any address i try to access, to a login page.

what i did/know wrong ?

my setup is computer → rb433ah

Hotspot will to work properly in a non internet environment. The hotspot will not open the login page if internet is not available. You can still force the login page to open by manually typing in the router ip address followed by /login.

http://<router-ip-address>/login
