hotspot problem with keepalive-timeout

Dear All,

We have a strange problem on some hotspots.
We use a mikrotik RB800 with firmware 5.7 (had the same problem with firmware 4.17)
The Hotspot we configured is on the roof of a building.
We have connected 2 access points (TP LINK) with ethernet to the routerboard for the access inside the building.

If we disable the hotspot service everything works very well.
When we activate the hotspot, the bypassing ip-bindings and the users connected through the tp link get disconnected after the amount of time set in the hotspot and user profile keepalive-timeout.
If we don’t put any setting it seems we don’t have any problem.
The problem of doing that is that we get a lot of Active Hosts on the routerboard and after few hours, sometime a few days, the hotspot service becomes unavailable because too many hosts (250 or so) and users are not redirected to the hotspot login page.

Has anyone faced that problem ?
Any idea ?

if your winbox log : ippool-empty = cannot assign ip address - no more free addresses from pool
So check your dhcp-server,in the default lease time 3d:00:00…change to 5-10 minutes 00:05:00 or 00:10:00.

We have tried the dhcp but it doesn’t change anything.
Here is an update on our problem

We have a strange problem on 2 different hotspots.
We use a mikrotik RB800 with firmware 5.7 (had the same problem with firmware 4.15,4.17)
The Hotspot we configured is on the roof of a building.
We have connected 4 access points (TP LINK) with ethernet to the routerboard for the access inside the building.
When we activate the hotspot, the bypassing ip-bindings and the users connected through the tp link gets disconnected once in a while. There’s a sort of hole in the connection for 20-30 seconds from time to time.
If we disable the hotspot service everything works very well
We did launch some ping on our 4 access point with and without hotspot activated.
With hotspot activated we get 10 % packet loss
With hotspot desactivated we get 1 % packet loss

What we have done :

  • Changed the RB800 with a new one  Exactly the same thing
  • Upgraded to 5.7  Exactly the same thing
  • Changed the cable to the access point  Exactly the same thing
  • Connected a PC directly in the routerboard and also have packet loss with hotspot activated.

I remember 1.5 month ago have same problem with rb750 v5.7 + tplink WR-543G (config WDS bridge floor 1 & floor 2 distance just 15m). Try to try that problem not effect mikrotik RB750v5.7 but from connection wifi, after I change connectsi cable without wds work fine. I have customer more than 2 years conection wds tplink 543 and 5110g with 4.10-4.17 (I always upgrade execept v5 becouse my customer not familiar with v5) work fine becouse wds connection really outdoor LOS (tplink 543/543g with box  ).
So… 1. check your wireless connection (Try to share video/data with wireless local) 2. if you have tplink other type try with 150Mbps or 300Mbps 3. check your utp cable ohm meter 1000ft lower than 28 ohm and check your adapter with Volt meter.

I think if you change RB800 or upgrade with new one you will same problem
