Hotspot question????

For what i need hotspot server if i can manualy add DHCP server on any interface and configure mascarading for internet access????

I use /ip hotspot setup on MT 2.9.41, so, i add hotspot server on vlan1 interface:
hotspot interface: vlan1
local address of network: 14.15.15.1/24
masquerade network: yes
address pool of network: 14.15.15.2-14.15.15.254
select certificate: cert1
ip address of smtp server: 0.0.0.0
dns servers: x.x.x.x,x.x.x.x
dns name: hotspot
name of local hotspot user: admin
password for the user: 123

[admin@Router] ip hotspot> print
Flags: X - disabled, I - invalid, S - HTTPS

NAME INTERFACE ADDRESS-POOL PROFILE IDLE-TIMEOUT

0 S hotspot1 vlan1 hs-pool-58265 hsprof1 5m

after that, any computer connected to vlan1 can surf internet without any authorizations! So, what for i need hotspot, if it not authorize users???

up

yup,..hello friend

i think hotspot is more secure and flexible, when are you installing and success hotspot system, the user will unreachable to the gateway before they have authentication methode. but we didn't try our hotspot system over vlan,...we are, so sorry... our policy for DHCP-Hotspot must be with phisical interface [ethernet].

Are you sure you do have all hotspot-related things really setup to be on the vlan interface, not the underlying physical ether1 or whatever?

I.e. there is no DHCP server, ip address etc. on the physical ethernet interface?
