Is there any way to completely disable the hotspot status pop-up that happens after a successful login?
Is there a way to dump a cookie/active user upon wireless radio disassociation with the AP so that the users is required to log back in?
I’m thinking about using the advertising features of the hotspot, but pop-ups are so 1990 (even the latest version of IE pretty much prevents those from happening). Is there a method by which every 5th or 10th request for web content can be completely substituted with advertising either via DNS or the web proxy? I’ve don similar things with pdnsd, openbsd and pfauth, but I can’t figure out how to do this with the Mikrotik boxes.
Also, has anyone had any success delivering flash content via the Mikrotik hotspot splash page (figured I’d just dump the stuff in the /img directory and serve up as necessary; it’s probably going to be a little tight, but I think I can make it fit)?
Finally, I’m looking at sticking an analog modem in one of the mini-pci slots so that the Mikrotik box can call a 1-900 (pay) number to pay for it’s network access. Anyone tried this? Any special drivers needed? Special advice (like use this type of modem or avoid win modems)? I guess I could just use on-board serial port, but I have other plans for that port (plus I don’t like the added bulk of an external modem).
Thanks in advance…
